Hello, friends.
It has been a long while, and for that I apologize.
My last post was right around the time
Covid-19 went into over-drive...
and I went into a very real funk.
~~~~~~~~~~
So, today I am attempting to shake it off...
and say hello and share a few
summertime touches
here at Finch Rest.
here at Finch Rest.
I recently placed a simple bouquet
of my sister's garden snowball hydrangeas
on our kitchen table.
Right now simple is working best for me.
Because nothing feels very simple right now.
With attempted simplifying, I've added messages
to remind me how life is so very precious.
What I do with my thoughts, words and deeds
matter now more than ever.
to remind me how life is so very precious.
What I do with my thoughts, words and deeds
matter now more than ever.
It truly IS important
for our mental state of mind
as we deal with this long-term isolation,
to be surrounded with things that
spark joy within us.
I met the lady who made this basket
when I visited Belize last fall.
I tucked in a couple pieces of my mom's coral
and a heart pillow a blog friend made me years ago.
Simple. Joy. Love. Memories.
♥
We redecorated our dining room
since I last featured it.
It's been a nice and bright change.
The most recent addition is a new chandy.
I did still love my other one - it just was a bit too fussy
and ornate for this easier style.
I am finding peace in the "less is more" of our decor.
I decorate in nearly all neutral monochromatic tones.
I use about every shade of white, ivory, beige
in varying textures, and use black for contrast.
The only color I really use in our home is green.
But for this summer I find I am introducing bits of
a sea glass color of aqua.
It is a cousin of green.... I can live with that. Ha ha.
I ordered some new quilted bedding in that color
way back in May, but it is back-ordered until October.
Blame Covid.
I hate summer will be over by the time I get it,
but it's worth the wait. I think, haha.
I know pussy willows are for spring
but I liked them so much I kept them out.
(Love it when nature provides the beauty duty!)
A moody dark pic of dining room/ music room
right after a much-needed thunderstorm
right after the sun came out.
I looked for a rainbow!
The cute wood slice birds ornament
my 3 nieces gave me this past Christmas
certainly brings a smile to my face!
They are three sisters....my three sweet nieces....
three sweet birds.
Wearing our masks when out in public
isn't about our rights to wear or not wear them;
it is about doing the right thing
to try our best to prevent the spread of this awful virus.
We each need to be considerate of our neighbor.
Let's all do our parts to try and
end this awful pandemic.
We are ALL in this TOGETHER.
And so may also be the cure.
Everything looks wonderful. I love your dining room, it is stunning. Stay well
ReplyDeleteYour home looks serene and lovely, as always, Michele! I love all the quotes and scripture verses sprinkled throughout that remind you of the importance of love and joy. The Grace before meals, is so sweet, in it's own frame. I'm loving your clean, fresh, simple look, and your dining room looks so pretty. You stay well, too! Love and hugs....
ReplyDeleteToday I posted for the first time since mid June, so I get it. I too have been decorating and crafting, just not writing about it. Your home is gorgeous. It always makes me smile! Be safe...
ReplyDeleteMichele!! How in the world are you? Oh, your home looks so beautiful. I've always loved your style! I know, this Covid has just put us in limbo a little!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Shelia :)
Oh my!Adorable tour!How elegant and inviting.Love the piano too.Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteYou've added such lovely touches. I liked it all.
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is so pretty. Love the light colors too. This Covid is so overwhelming at times. Scary and feels some days like there is no end to all of this. Hoping and praying for a vaccine soon and maybe we can begin to live and not be so frightened. Glad to see you post sweet friend. Have a great rest of the week.
Hi Michele, it's so good to see you post. I understand how you feel, this has been a really hard time for me too. Your home is beautiful and bright and airy. Such a wonderful place to be if you're staying in. I feel exactly the same way as you about masks and I do not understand how people can get so angry and riled up over doing it. It just makes sense all around. Your scripture verse said it all. Love your neighbor as yourself. Take care of yourself, big hugs, Deb
ReplyDeleteHello dearie! Beautiful rooms! What wonderful touches and accessories you have! I love your little bottle with the bird ornament. And how special to you. We listened to the Bob Marley song this morning after I read this post. It brought tears to our eyes. One of my granddaughters is Kate Marley named after Bob Marley. We have been to Belize a couple of times so we have fond memories too. You brought it all back! Big hugs, J.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely to hear from you and know that you are safe and well. You are blessed with a beautiful home. Take care and wise words about the mask, stay safe.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful! I love your colors. That dining room carpet is stunning. I enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteI get you on the feeling part of all that's going on. Not a lot of brightness as in the past. But I am believing we all are about to come out of this nightmare soon. Who would have thought we would be living through this virus as we have been doing? Keep faith. Surely, we will come out. God bless.
Michelle, you have a lovely home and we seem to have similar tastes. I noticed we both have a grand piano. And, like you, I have struggled with the impacts of the virus. My two adult sons live in Manhattan and Philadelphia, my 85 year old mom is in Charleston. I miss and worry about them constantly.
ReplyDeleteMichele, I always enjoy seeing your lovely home. I feel as though I'm looking into a lovely magazine. All of the personal touches add a real sense of the one that lives there.
ReplyDeleteWe must all do what's right and respect each other by wearing our masks and practice social distancing. Yes, it's hard and it's long, but we can do it! Take care and continue to stay safe.
Very beautiful and clean house . Very subtle colours and I loved it
ReplyDeleteLove all the beautiful pictures. Your home is beautiful! The COVID, Media, Riots, Bad News every where has surely taken a toil on folks. But, Praise the Lord we serve a Risen King that nothing escapes Him and HE is in control of all things. I am trying to keep my focus on Him. Lord, there is days that I really wish CALGONE would take me away....LOL! But, my beach trip last week with my family sure put a pep in my step...for at least a little while. Stay safe dear lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteSo great to see a post from you! Your house is so lovely, and seeing these pictures brings back sweet memories. What a beautiful, restful, and welcoming place. I love it! This has been a hard year, with so many uncertainties, and so much stress. I deactivated my FB account and am trying to limit my news time. Just enough to stay informed, not too much to keep me awake at nights! Simple, peaceful, with encouraging words to ponder . . . you've created a lovely sanctuary. xo Deborah ps stay safe and well, and praying this will end soon.
Michele, I completely understand the calmness when making everything more simple. I love your Scrabble "Summer"....This is a time where we need to dig deep to be the light, hope and peace that our world needs. You've obviously accomplished that with your summer decor.
