Thanksgiving Tablescape

I went with a calm look this year in my decorating for autumn.

Here is the tablescape that I'll be using for our Thanksgiving Feast.

I have never put this combination together, and I'm liking it.

I simply shopped my storage stash -
haven't spent a dime this year,
other than buying some real pumpkins and some mums.

It's cosy, warm and calm -  just the look I was after!
(And just the feeling I hope to be that whole day!)

The warmth of wood and touches of burlap
feels woodsy and right for an Autumn table.

I always enjoy aerial views of the dining table,
lends a nifty perspective from this distance.

Just a hint of fall colour on the sideboy buffet....
with a silk floral arrangement I made a few years ago.

Easy fall centerpiece - low enough to be able to
see over it - which helps keep the conversations going.

As always, thank you for stopping by for a visit!

  3. Michelle, I love the simplicity of this table scape. Sometimes it is easy to over do festive decorations but this is so soft and lovely....with a touch of vintage in those harvest gold dishes and stemware. I actually have started collecting some of those vintage gold glass items...it works great with the color scheme of reds, golds and browns. The funny thing is, I received so much of this stuff for weddings gifts almost 40 years ago and was glad to get rid of it...now I want it back! :)

  14. Hi Michele,
Everything does look so lovely and serene. I love how the holiday look has turned to be more subtle, and not like Fall and Christmas just kind of take over. You balanced everything out so perfectly. Just love it!
Hope your holiday season is filled with joy and fun new memories!! Christmas is only 7 weeks away! How did that even happen??

    Hugs,
    Becky

  15. Hi Michele, I like the soft colours and layering of plates. I've often thought about a dough bowl as one was used in a demonstration of making shortbread at a pioneer kitchen I visited. Trying to rub butter into flour would be so much easier with sloping sides instead of the nesting bowls I have. Wonder if they're still made?

  21. Your table is so pretty! You are right, the aerial view really gives a sense of the whole look. You have such a nice collection of dishes. Makes me think I need some solid plates to add to mine. :)

Our family has a big gathering out in the country so there are no table settings but I do love to look at them.

  22. What a beautiful table setting! And I have to admire the grand piano in the background, do you play such a lovely instrument? My daughter would probably skip Thanksgiving dinner to just play that piano lol! I loved the colors you chose for the table, and the aerial view was really fun! With this much thought into the preparation for Thanksgiving, I hope you will be able to relax and enjoy the time with your family and friends! :)

  26. Michele,

Just dropping in to say Thank You for dropping in at LAWN TEA! bj is such a sweet person, and insisted on inviting a lot of her friends to come by and read about Towandaland---what an honor, especially as I have so few readers.

I do love the quiet elegance of your table setting-, with the golds and pale colours--if you could see either of MY tables right now, you wouldn't eat my cookin'! We just renovated the downstairs kitchen, and THEN found the need for another bit of electrical work which necessitated emptying two of those gorgeous new white cabinets onto breakfast and dining table, having them taken down by dear friends, so we took it on "their own time" and got them down last weekend.

So even with our expected ten-for-dinner, I'll probably still be getting out china and the centerpieces while the turkey's on the grill. Four willing GRANDS should make fun work.

So glad to see you here! Thank you so much.

  27. We are of similar mind this year. I am working on a small table setting that is completely different from what I've done in the past in that it is neutral with a surprise pop of color. I'm just ready to shake things up a bit. I'm swooning over your dishes!
