Ah, nature's wonderful pine cones!
They are perfect decor items when one is going for
SIMPLE. RUSTIC. NATURAL. EASY. FREE.
but apparently I really like to use
PINE CONES
in my winter decor.
I would rather choose pine cones
over just about anything else that brings winter to mind.
Who knew?
I have just recently noticed how often my eyes rested on
PINE CONE DECOR.
They're happily situated all through the house
so I guess (hopefully) that it isn't total overkill too much.
Sometimes they're plain, sometimes they're painted,
sometimes they're gilded, sometimes they're glittered.
Most of the cones I used are our own from our various
pine trees on our two acres.
(Fun times when accidentally stepping on them barefoot!)

We have what our neighbors jokingly refer to as
"The Christmas Tree Farm."
I've lost count how many evergreens we've planted.
They're happily situated all through the house
so I guess (hopefully) that it isn't
I have them tucked here and there
just quietly bringing the look of the outdoors inside......
....decorating our home with
simple little rustic touches of beauty.

I just ♥ how pretty crackle glass looks painted
with pine cones and evergreen boughs!
with pine cones and evergreen boughs!
I even have pine cones on a few dishes.
Some candle holders...............
Sometimes they're all dressed up for a special occasion
with fancy bling bling bling!
These pieces work especially well after Christmas in the winter
when it is icy cold with snow and ice outside,
but the red and green of Christmas is all put away.....

DANCING TREE AND PINE CONES
A beautiful breeze touches the branches of the evergreen,
The branches come to life as if they were dancing.
The branches a gentle green,
Clusters of pine cones can be seen.
On a windy day the pine cones fall from the branches,
Falling gently on the green grass.
The pine cones have a delicate perfect structure,
When you view the pine cone.
Appears tree like,
As if God had painted the pine cones.
An exquisite pattern,
Simply for humans to enjoy.

I love your pine cone motif. It is good to tie a home all together with common themes. And you're smart to have a neverending supply!
ReplyDeleteNo, never to many pine cones and greenery. I used them a lot too, before we moved here we had a lot of pine trees. I love to add a touch of white tips and glitzed them up with silver and glitter. You really know how to use them, everything is lovely.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful and happy Christmas...........
I live in an area where there are many pine trees and I am always collecting pine cones to place around my home. They never go out of style! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI love pine cones as well and always decorate with them, especially after Christmas when the harsh reality of Winter is here to stay! I don't think your pine cones are overkill at all. I think they look wonderful! Merry Christmas, Michele!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Michele, I love pine cones. Rich and I always collected them wherever we went. I think there's just something so beautiful about them. I loved seeing your collection throughout your home. Merry Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteI love pine cones, too. I guess I'm lazy ...I like decorating with things that can remain "up" during the winter. There are a few pine trees in my neighborhood and sometimes I'm the "crazy bag lady" picking up pine cones. Loved seeing your natural, pine cone decor. Lovely! Merry Merry Christmas to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteThis post is just delightful!! Thank you!! Wishing you the merriest of Christmases!!
ReplyDeleteI've used pinecones for decorating too Michele but never to the potential that you do. They are a nice winter compliment to the home and the pieces you painted are very nice. The silver sparkly cones are festive.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.
Merry Christmas!
Your pinecones are fabulous, I love how simple and elegant. Beautiful vignettes. I wish you and your family a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAll the pinecones you've shared here are so pretty, the real ones and the ones on glass/dishes. I think they make for a great natural decoration, Michele, and can go from Fall through the Winter. Isn't it wonderful to be able to pick them up from your own backyard? We had several evergreens that had pinecones on them at our old house. Not here, but there are plenty I can scoop up off the ground just walking around the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love pinecones too Michele. They are fun to take pictures of too.. You certainly have a beautiful collection of them in your home. very simple and natural...Deodar cedar cones are my favorites..they look like a rose..
ReplyDeleteHave a Merry Christmas....
Love, Mona
We have no pine cones here but after seeing your lovely decorations I will have to remedy that! Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteI just love pine cones also and use them all over my house year round. I get some from my yard and my sister sent me some huge ones that look great in a basket. I tend to decorate for winter and then just add holiday touches.
ReplyDeleteSuch a delightful post, Michele! I love pine cones and have many in my home for decorating purposes - they are one of natures beauty :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you!
Yes, I'm one of those that pick them up when walking around the neighborhood! They're great to decorate with. I love both pictures with the crackle glass, the fresh greenery really adds to the beautiful look.
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful post, I love pinecones too...
