August is naught;
and September
hath arrived this day in stealth.
and September
hath arrived this day in stealth.
~~~~~*~~~~~
By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.
- Helen Hunt Jackson
In the garden Autumn is, indeed
the crowning glory of the year
bringing us the fruition
of months of thought and care and toil.
And at no season, save perhaps in daffodil time,
do we get such superb colour effects
as from August to November.
- Rose G. Kingsley
The foliage has been losing its freshness
through the month of August,
and here and there a yellow leaf shows itself
like the first gray hair amidst the locks of a beauty
who has seen one season too many.
- Oliver Wendell Holmes
(True but ouch! LOL!)
Wishing you all an absolutely lovely September.
As always, thank you for your visit!
September is such a lovely month in Wisconsin. If only it weren't followed so soon by winter.
ReplyDeleteYes, true, but ouch, Oliver! Nice post, Michele. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd this is a lovely post in writing and eye candy.
Happy September!!
It did seem to arrive a bit quick though, Michele. Sigh. : ) I'm still enjoying wearing my shorts and flip flops. I'm hoping we get to enjoy some fall weather before winter temps hit. If I hear one more person talk about the farmers almanac forecast for this winter I'm going to go into hiding.
ReplyDeleteHere the mornings are cool but by noon it's back in the 90's. I do look forward to cooler temps all day! Fall is welcomed anytime now!
ReplyDeleteLove your cute little birdies!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy September!
What a beautiful poem. I do hate to say goodbye to summer. It is so great to be in the garden and entertain outdoors. But I also enjoy fall. Your images are lovely and very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the support sweet friend.
Blessings,
Janet
Beautiful poems, and autumn is always so beautiful! I am never ready for autumn though, I know what comes after it! All the cold weather! Today was beautiful here and I enjoyed a lovely 80 degree day which was rare this summer. Tomorrow suppose to be only 64!
I don't think I've seen one season too many Oliver! I'm hoping to see many more, haha. I am looking forward to cooler and dryer days!
