Pretty Shamrock Teacup Gift

When I first started blogging the very first person
who took it from my merely blogging
to actually making a real friendship for me
was a sweet gal named Monica from the blog Texas Fiesta Fan!

(She collects Fiesta Ware and has an amazing collection!)

Out of the blue she sent me this INCREDIBLE shamrock teacup.

I am still stunned- not only by the beauty
 of this wonderful teacup-
but of the generous nature of Monica.

It truly is a masterpiece.

She knew I would love it and cherish it.

She knew what it would mean to me.

And she was and IS so right!

So every single year when I get out my shamrock pretties
to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in style
 I shall think of Monica,
the sweet blogger who brought me such pleasure
with her unexpected random act of kindness.

If you can, please visit her blog and wish her a
Happy St.Patrick's Day!

Proudly made in the good ole US of A!

Thanks, Monica, You really are a true sweetheart.

As always, thank you for visiting!

Old Footed Tea Cup

I love footed teacups.

This one has the prettiest pink rose
 hand painted on the inside.

And a nice soft rainbow-of-colour
 luminescenglaze wash on it, too.

Footed teacups are certainly getting more
and more difficult to find these days.

As always, thank you for your visit!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Country Farmhouse Centerpiece

I don't exactly live in a country farmhouse
but I sure love how they look sometimes!

I am not completely surrounded  by shabby/chippy
but really like little bits of it.....
not completely surrounded by too much sweet
girlie French style, or too many
antiques or Mediterranean style
and don't "overdo" any specific style or trend.

I am not exactly "true" to any one specific style-
 Yikes!
Shame on me for being so fickle!

Today I share some simple "Country Farmhouse"
charm with an easy centerpiece put together
for my kitchen table in about a blink of an eye.

I shopped the house for a couple items
and threw it together and really like how it turned out!

(Sometimes less-is-more.)

Some kind of base to pull it all together: Check.

Fresh flowers? Check.

Groupings of three with staggering height: Check.

Every item used here was thrift found....except for the pretty flowers.
They were a get-well gift from my eldest daughter
almost THREE weeks ago - and are still living!

The way to keep cut flowers alive longer?
Change the water daily and make certain no leaves are
under the water level - that breeds rot fast and takes away the
life of your cut flowers!

Whenever possible use flower saver packets....
and if you don't have those,
use one or two tiny droplets of bleach.

(Also be sure to ask for extra flower saver packets when you do buy flowers - the clerk is usually happy to oblige you!)

When you do use a flower saver packet
don't use the entire pack -
use about a 3rd of it so it stretches farther!

Then you always have enough for the life
of your cut florals to be able to change up the water daily.

As always, thank you for your visit!

My Pretty Pink Valentine Gift

My husband never fails to charm. He is my True Prince.

Not only has he earned lots more feathers
for his "Wings" while taking such
good care of me while I recover.....

.....he has just been great company and
very sweet, too.

Look at this beautiful rose quartz heart-shaped necklace
he gave me for St. Valentine's Day!

And a pretty rose-scented heart shaped soap on
a signed hand painted dish looks so pretty.

This pretty shell "ornament" my dear tea friend
Dawn gave me a while back and looks great hanging
around the neck of my stone bird sculpture!

Here is the vignette all together -  softened & lightened up.

As always, thank you for your visit!

Little children, let us not love
in word or talk, but in deed and in truth.

Have a wonderful day!

Valentine's Dessert Tea

Most of you know I have been "convalescing."

This means a strict rule of no
 lifting, bending, moving, stooping,
not too much sitting....
and absolutely no playing with dishes!

Of course this also means no entertaining!

So without further ado I am sharing some old photos
that most of you  have probably never seen
(made a bit nicer with new editing sortware.)

Because the doctor said NOTHING about my not
playing with pics!!

These are rose scented soap flakes
given as a favor at that tea.

I always try to save a favor for myself when possible.

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous;
love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly;
it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails...But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7,13

I love this pink and grey china.
It's not antique - I would venture to guess it's
from the 1960s.

Sorry I can't go downstairs to tell you who makes it.

I initially purchased the set to sell in my store
but since have never wanted to part with it.

(I need to work on that, it's getting ridiculous!)

Here's that heart-shaped server again.

I didn't know till I started that I would be
working on this post today or I would've saved it
for this post instead.

I did want to show more of the table
with the pink glass goblets and plates
and a tiny bit of the pink tea cozy in the background.

Sometimes the easiest way to host a tea party
is to simply make it a dessert tea in the early afternoon.

Your guests would have already had their lunch.

And when they come for sweet sugary refreshments
it won't spoil their appetites for dinner later in the evening.

It's also easier on YOU the hostess because
there is half the prep work, time and cost involved -
and it is a GREAT way to start having teas if you are new at it!

(Practice makes perfect!)

If you host a dessert tea most everything may be made
ahead of time - freeing you up
to be a very calm, relaxed and gracious hostess.

HAPPY FAT TUESDAY
MARDI GRAS!

As always, thank you for visiting.
