I just love the color of purple and lilac and have a lot of these colors inside and outside our nest. As you walk up to our house this is what greets you for spring:
We have a black bench on the side of the front porch by the door that is holding this chippy basket at the moment.
A little closer look:
You can find pretty purple violas in the front, back and side gardens here. They're one of my favorite spring flowers. Their fragrance is heavenly! This beautiful little cluster is located very near the front door to greet you! Another "heavenly" thing about this particular cluster is that God must have "planted" it, because we didn't. And we never had any violas in the front gardens.....so God brought us beauty where there had been none.
One just never knows where one will find some purple sneaking about around here!
One of my few but favorite whimsical items is this springy decorative birdhouse. I think this cute Yellow Finch enjoys living at Finch Rest. (You know how birds of a feather flock together!) He never gets lonely with all the other Yellow Finches who "rest" here!
This plaque shows the name of our home and is on the front of our house.
It isn't exactly purple but it is applicable to finches.
And by REST we mean this is a safe haven, not that they ever stop eating from all our bird feeders to rest! They empty 7 of the feeders daily, the hungry chubby Yellow Meatballs!
OK this is getting much too long....let me close by showing at least ONE of my purple teacups! This is a pretty Royal Standard of England, along with the afore mentioned shabby basket and birdhouse.
I plan on posting more on purple once my lilacs are in full bloom!

I was very drawn to purple and lavendar this year, too, Michele. I started with it on the wreath I made for my door. I went and got some plants this week and found that I bought lavendar petunias, purpley pink hanging geranium and a hanging basket with assorted plants, but purple definitely lets itself be known. Even the coleus I got had some purple in it!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of going to the Springfield Extravaganza {on the Friday}, if you plan on being there at all maybe we could meet up.
Very pretty, did you make the door wreath? and the pink and yellow birdhouse and purple flowers on the cup...oh so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat teacup is STUNNING. I absolutely love it. And the flowers on the black bench and the wreath....so beautiful!! I too love purple. Almost bought some today. We are two of a pair!

Your wreath is so pretty. :) You should show us your black bench. I bet is darling. We feed our little finches too. Ours are yellow though. They are adapted to the desert so they look like little rocks. But they are so sweet! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend!

Michele, your purple-lilac theme is so very pretty. The wreath and basket of flowers is a very welcoming sight at your front door. I like your other items as well, especially the lovely teacup and saucer. Your theme reminds me of a friend's child who loved purple so much that she didn't want to wear any color but purple. I think people who love purple REALLY love purple! I am one of those people.------------- Shannon
ReplyDeleteJust lovely. Wonderful to be a part to Seasonal Sundays.

I'm a fan of all the shades, hues, tints of purple. My front garden is usually filled with these colors much of the year. Mix in a lot of white, and I'm a happy gardener! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love purple too, thanks for the photo tour around your nest! I found you at Seasonal Sundays.

ReplyDeleteI am a lilac lover too. I can't wait to see your blooms. I got a lilac candle from Bath & Body not too long ago. I swear it smells like a huge lilac bush is in my house. It's just heavenly. :o)
ReplyDeleteI love your purple wreath. What a wonderful way to greet all your visitors. Your blog makes me smile every time I visit :)
